Incident at Community College of Philadelphia

Dear Campus Community,

Given the current environment, we wanted to inform you about an event that occurred earlier today on the campus of the Community College of Philadelphia (CCP). Late this morning, we received information that there was a man with a gun on the campus of CCP.  The USciences Department of Public Safety monitored the situation and it was ultimately confirmed that the incident had no connection to yesterday's posted threat. Today's incident centered around an argument between two individuals while in one of CCP's buildings. At one point during the argument, one of the individuals displayed a handgun and then subsequently fled.  CCP was locked down as the Philadelphia Police responded and searched the building room by room. By late morning, it was confirmed that the individual being sought had been apprehended and there were no injuries or shots fired.

Our exterior buildings will remain locked on card access only for the remainder of today and tomorrow.  We will take it day by day in determining if and when the doors will remain on card access.

Thank you for your cooperation.

Interim Director - Public Safety
